Russell Receives WMA Award for 3rd Consecutive Year, Cites Interwoven Technology as Key to Global Brand Management and Providing Superior Customer Service

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -January 6, 2003- Interwoven, Inc, (Nasdaq: IWOV), a world leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that long-time customer and leading investment services firm Frank Russell Company was awarded the "Best Investment Website" award for 2002 by the Web Marketing Association.

"Interwoven provided the content management platform that enabled us to build a consistent look and feel that conveys a very powerful global brand image," said David Freese, manager, E-Business Services at Russell. "Because of Interwoven's template environment, we can easily expand as our business grows, and most importantly, we can empower each business area to quickly react to their customer's needs."

An Interwoven customer since 1999, Russell has since standardized on Interwoven technology enterprise-wide across a number of its intranets and extranets that serve a global network of independent, third party advisors. In its initial Internet implementation, Russell turned to Interwoven to manage its growing amount of content. Faced with an increasingly Internet-savvy constituency, Russell required a content management solution that equipped it to provide more tailored investment information to prospects, customers, and investment partners. Initially, Russell considered using a document management system to support its public site but found that it did not scale sufficiently to address the growing amount of content and anticipated business growth.

Since launching the public site powered by Interwoven, Russell has increased its ability to quickly and efficiently respond to market and business requirements and maintain a competitive edge with clients worldwide.

The annual award competition is organized by the Boston-based Web Marketing Association, which is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, public relations, and design professionals from around the United States. The contest is designed to judge corporate Websites against an Internet standard and against peer sites within the industry. A record 1,300 sites from 19 countries were entered in this year's competition.

Entries are judged on seven criteria: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, navigation, and ease of use. Judges include advertising executives, site designers, content providers and Webmasters.

Russell.com provides perspective on investment issues plus company and product information by way of 13 country-specific sites and a worldwide site. Russell's site is designed to help and inform investment professionals, investors, sales prospects and the media. It includes timely market commentary, informative articles on a variety of investment issues, and extensive information on Russell indexes and investment products.

This recognition marks the third consecutive year Russell.com has been honored by the association, having been named "Best Investment Website" in 2000 and "Best Mutual Fund Website" in 2001.
